Use a Cast node when your ad needs a specific person: a relatable presenter for a UGC ad, a supporting character, or someone in the background. You describe the character, generate a reference board, and choose the face to reuse in other nodes.
For related setup tasks, read Create clothes and props and Create a storyboard.
Create a character
1. Add the node and an actor
Add a Cast node from the node library and select it. In Actors, click + Add actor, or Load actor to reuse one.
2. Write the brief
Enter a Name (or click Suggest), pick a Role (Hero, Supporting, Background or Custom), and describe the character in Prompt: who they are, what they’re doing and how they should come across.
3. Fill in the details
Click Fill fields to turn your brief into structured appearance settings, then adjust them. Or turn on Use Prompt only to let the prompt alone control appearance.
4. Set the voice (if the ad has speech)
Enter the ElevenLabs Voice name, an optional Voice ID, and an Accent / voice variant.
5. Choose the board and render
Pick a Sheet template and the Reference modules you want to inspect, check the render settings, and generate.
6. Pick the cast face
Open Preview render, check the board, click Select cast face, frame the face in the circle, and click Use as cast face.
A good brief
A 34-year-old Shopify store owner filming a casual selfie-style video at her kitchen table with a laptop open. Warm, relatable and a little frustrated, like someone tired of juggling too many tools to understand her Meta ads.
Include the setting or situation when it helps explain the character. Add a ref image if you have a visual starting point; you’ll confirm you have the rights before the first upload, and images stay private to Media Studio.
Fine-tune appearance
With Use Prompt only off, you can adjust appearance with sliders. Each shows its current value beside the label.
Appearance controls
| Group | Controls |
|---|---|
| Identity | Gender, Age, Auto average height, Height |
| Country context | Country association, Mixed roots, Current country |
| Face structure | Face shape, Jaw definition, Cheekbones, Chin shape, Facial maturity |
| Eyes, brows, nose and lips | Eye shape, Brow style, Nose profile, Lip fullness |
| Complexion | Skin tone, Eye color, Freckles, Natural skin detail, Distinguishing feature |
| Hair | Length, Color, Style, Hairline, Parting |
| Build | Body type |
Keep choices consistent with the brief. For a casual UGC presenter, more natural skin detail may fit better than a very smooth finish. Accent is set in Voice, separately from country.
Reference board options
- Sheet template: Master Character Reference Sheet, Character Turnaround, Character Portrait Board or Character Detail Board.
- Reference modules: Hero portraits, Identity dossier, Head reference, Profile & angles, Expressions, Micro expressions.
- Directions: the camera views to include, from Front and Side to Back, Top and low angles.
- Output board split: everything on 1 master board, or split across 2 boards.
- Canvas size: 1024 and 2K are native; 4K and 8K are upscaled. Turn on Custom dimensions to set your own.
- Hyper-realistic: generates an HQ identity anchor first, then the board. It uses two image renders.
Use portrait and head references to review a presenter; add profile and back views if the character appears from several angles.
Render settings
Choose the Provider, Model, Aspect ratio and Quality. Check the model’s displayed price range and reference-image limit, and the note under aspect ratio for rendered size and cropping. Enter a Seed ID to reuse it across boards, but still check each result for consistency.
Review the result
Before choosing a face, check that the character fits the brief and that the face stays consistent across every view. On detailed boards, also check body proportions, hair, skin, expressions and angles. If it’s not right, adjust the brief or settings and generate again.
