The Campaign Wizard builds a complete Meta campaign in three stages: Campaign, Ad Set (Targeting, Tracking and Settings) and Review. Nothing reaches Meta until you create the campaign on the final step.
To open it, go to Campaigns and click New Campaign.
For related setup tasks, read Set up Ad Rules and Use Value Rules.
What’s in the wizard
| Stage | What you set |
|---|---|
| Campaign | Template, name, status, beneficiary, type, objective, time zone, budget and bid strategy |
| Ad Set: Targeting | Placements, locations, languages, age and gender, detailed targeting, custom audiences, devices |
| Ad Set: Tracking | YieldBI Intelligence, optimization goal, bid strategy, conversion events, Page and profile identity, landing page and URL parameters |
| Ad Set: Settings | Schedule, ad set naming and the list of ad sets to create |
| Review | A final summary, then save for review or publish |
Build a campaign
1. Start from a template (optional)
Pick a saved template to load a whole setup, or start blank. Use the tabs to switch between your templates, shared team templates, drafts and archived ones. Reset clears everything back to defaults.
2. Name the campaign
Combine your own text with naming tags so every name follows the same pattern. The Preview shows the finished name exactly as it will appear in YieldBI and Meta Ads Manager.
3. Set the campaign basics
Choose the status it’s created with, the beneficiary (and payor, if someone else pays), the campaign type and the objective. The objective decides which options appear later in the wizard.
4. Set the budget
Choose ABO (a budget per ad set) or CBO (one daily or lifetime budget for the whole campaign). Add a Spend cap if you want a hard limit.
5. Define targeting
Set placements, locations, languages, demographics, detailed targeting, custom audiences and devices. Any of these can be split into separate ad sets (see Test variations with ad set variants).
6. Set up tracking and optimization
Choose where results happen, what to optimize for, the Data Set and Conversion Event, and a Bid Strategy. Then set the Facebook Page, Instagram profile, landing page URL and URL parameters for your ads.
7. Check the ad sets
In Ad Set Configuration, review every ad set the wizard will create, with its name, status and budget. Use UTILS to apply a budget to all of them at once.
8. Review and create
Check the summary on the Review step, then click Create Campaign. See Review and publish.
Keep campaign names consistent
Naming tags fill in automatically from the campaign’s own settings, so names stay accurate without manual typing.
| Tag | Adds |
|---|---|
| Date | The creation date |
| Yr-Mo / Yr-Month | Year and month, as numbers or with the month name |
| Type | The campaign type, such as Acquisition |
| Objective | The campaign objective, such as Sales |
| Budget Strategy | CBO or ABO |
| Beneficiary | The brand the ads are for |
| Creator | The person who built the campaign |
| Separator | The character between each part |
To reuse a pattern, open the template browser next to the name field. Save Current stores the pattern (set Template Visibility to Public to share it with your whole organization), and Use Template applies one.
Separator settings let you pick underscore, hyphen, spaced hyphen, dot or pipe, use a different separator for ad set names, and Save as my default for future campaigns.
Test variations with ad set variants
Several targeting settings can split into separate ad sets, one per option. The wizard shows a variant count so you know how many ad sets you’re about to create.
| Setting | How to split |
|---|---|
| Placements | Turn off Advantage+ placements, choose placements, then Group by Placement: one ad set per placement (Feed, Stories, Reels) or per platform (Facebook, Instagram) |
| Locations | Turn on grouping and choose Country, Region / City, Language, Economic Tier, Custom, or Flat (one ad set per location) |
| Languages | Turn on Language variants |
| Gender and age | Turn on Gender variants or Age variants. Add custom age ranges between 18 and 65+ |
| Detailed targeting | Turn on Detailed targeting variants: one ad set per interest or behavior |
Use Ad Set Naming tags for any setting you split, so each variant gets a distinct name in reports.
Tip: On the Review step, turn on Dim repeating fields to fade settings that are identical across ad sets, so the differences stand out.
Set up tracking and optimization
Optimization and bid strategy
- Where Results Happen? Website, app, calls or messages.
- What To Optimize For? For example, conversions or conversion value.
- Data Set and Conversion Event: the pixel or dataset that measures conversions, and the event to optimize toward (such as Purchase).
- Bid Strategy:
- Highest volume or value spends the full budget for the most results. No bid needed.
- Cost per result goal aims to keep average cost per result at your target.
- ROAS goal aims for a target return on ad spend. Needs value optimization and a verified business.
- Bid cap sets the maximum bid in any single auction.
Events and attribution
Choose Website, App or Offline events, then the attribution model. Standard uses the click and view windows you set. Incremental credits only conversions Meta estimates your ads caused. Conversion count counts every conversion or one per person.
Identity, landing page and URL parameters
Pick the Facebook Page, Instagram Profile, and (if used) Threads and WhatsApp identities. Under defaults for ads, set the Landing Page URL, Display Link and URL Parameters. Edit parameters field by field or as one string, add your own, and insert Macros such as campaign name or ad ID so every sale can be traced to the exact campaign, ad set, ad and placement.
YieldBI Intelligence
An optional optimization layer that judges the campaign by a business goal, such as revenue, LTV or lead quality. Turn it on, then choose:
- Allowed levels: what YieldBI can review (campaign budgets, ad set budgets and bids, ads and creatives, value rules).
- Execution mode: recommend changes for your approval, or apply allowed actions itself.
- Primary goal, Data source and Goal value: the result YieldBI measures and what one result is worth.
- Optimization weight, Tolerance multiplier and Safety boundary: how YieldBI’s goal balances against Meta’s, and exactly when it steps in.
Funnel compatibility checks that YieldBI’s goal and Meta’s optimization event sit at compatible funnel stages.
Schedule and budget scheduling
Ad sets start immediately by default; End Date is optional. A Delivery schedule (specific days and hours) needs a lifetime budget. Budget Scheduling raises the budget during high-demand dates, such as a sale, by a fixed amount or a percentage.
Review and publish
The Review step summarizes every setting and every ad set. Click Edit on any section to jump back to it, or edit a single generated ad set on its own.
- With Publish immediately unticked, Create Campaign saves the campaign for an approver’s sign-off. Nothing is sent to Meta yet.
- With Publish immediately ticked, the campaign goes straight to Meta. Its default comes from your account’s review policy.
If you close the wizard before creating the campaign, choose Save draft to keep your changes on this device, or Discard to clear them.
