Plan with the Brain
Use the Brain in YieldBI Media Studio to turn connected assets into text plans. Set input scope, request a script or shot plan, check cost, and review output.

The Brain is a prompt node. You write an instruction, choose which connected nodes it may read, and pick what it should produce. It writes a plan that the next node on your board can use, so you describe the next step in plain words instead of filling in that node by hand.
Use it to write a script, a shot plan, a storyboard brief or scene-by-scene directions for Scenes.
Note: The Brain only writes text. It never makes images or video, and it never changes your board unless you let it propose changes, which you always review first.
For related setup tasks, read Create a storyboard and Create scenes.
Write a plan
1. Add and connect the Brain
Add a Brain node and wire the nodes it should read into it, such as a Location, Cast or Product. Connect its output to the node that will use the plan, for example Scenes.
2. Write the instruction
Say what you want, who speaks, where it happens and how long it runs. Type @ to refer to a connected input by name, such as @Location 01. Click Expand for a larger editor.
3. Add context (optional)
Fill in Audience, Locale, Brand name, spoken, Camera and aesthetic, Voice and accent and Must not appear (see below).
4. Tick the inputs to read
Under Included inputs, tick the nodes the Brain may use. Nothing is read until you tick it.
5. Choose the output
Set the Desired ad length in seconds, then tick what you want under Expected output, such as Script, Shot plan, Storyboard or Scenes.
6. Check cost and run
Click Check cost to see an estimate, then Preview plan. The node shows Done when the plan is ready, or Failed if it didn’t complete.
7. Read and approve
Click Read plan, review it, then Approve plan, or ask for changes (see below).
Example instruction
Write scene-by-scene directions for a 20 second vertical UGC video ad titled Stop Guessing. A Shopify store owner talks to camera at @Location 01 about juggling too many tools, then finding one clear dashboard.
Context fields
| Field | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Audience | Say who the ad is for, such as Shopify store owners running Meta ads |
| Locale | Set the language and region, such as en-US |
| Brand name, spoken | Spell the name the way it should sound, such as Yield B I. It’s used in every spoken line. |
| Camera and aesthetic | Set a look that’s carried word for word into every shot |
| Voice and accent | Describe how the speaker should sound |
| Must not appear | List things to keep out, one per line, such as No on-screen text |
You can also pick up to three saved Applied skills to shape the plan. Your instruction always wins if they disagree, and the plan warns you about any conflict.
Review and refine the plan
The plan reader shows a summary (title, place and style) and one block per scene with its timing, shot, action and spoken line. A total runtime line adds up the scene lengths so you can compare them with your desired ad length.
- Request changes to one part: Ctrl-click (Cmd-click on Mac) a section, add your comment, then click Request modifications.
- Approve plan once you’re happy with it.
- Export client brief to share the plan with someone else.
- Archive to set a plan aside.
New plans start as draft. Scene lengths are a guide; compare them with your storyboard before you render.
Advanced settings
What the Brain can read (input scope)
| Scope | Reads |
|---|---|
| Direct connections (default) | Only nodes wired straight into it |
| Current selection | Whatever nodes you’ve selected on the board |
| One group | One group of nodes (needs a group on the board) |
| Upstream branch | Everything feeding into it, down to a depth you set |
| Entire canvas | A snapshot of every node, taken when the plan starts |
On upstream change decides what happens when a source node publishes a newer version: Do nothing, Tell me, or Re-plan automatically (text only; making media is always a step you start yourself).
Working modes
- Create or transform (default): write or rewrite creative content.
- Split or expand: break one input into many outputs.
- Enrich: add direction to existing content.
- Evaluate: check continuity, brand fit or completeness.
- Orchestrate: plan or build a workflow for the nodes after it.
Timing limits
Max storyboard time caps the longest storyboard in seconds; leave it empty to let the plan decide. Get limit from a video model fills it from your video model’s maximum clip length.
Destination and canvas changes
Connected destination plan shows which node the Brain is wired to. The Brain passes its plan along; it doesn’t edit that node. Turn on Let it propose canvas changes to have it suggest new nodes and connections, which you review before anything is applied.
Model and cost
Choose the Provider and Model (Auto picks one for you), and how much Thinking effort it uses. The list price per million tokens is shown. Run history lists each plan with its status, model and time.
Tip: Tick only the inputs you need. Each extra input makes the plan longer and costs more. If the cost estimate is higher than you’d like, choose a lighter model.
